Learning Academy / Level 3
The accredited step up from Foundation. Where Foundation builds awareness, Level 3 builds capability: the same six management themes taken into real workplace practice, with the knowledge and judgement to manage each one well. Delivered in modules across several weeks, around the working week.

Foundation shows you what good line management looks like. Level 3 builds the capability to do it, to a nationally recognised, IMI-accredited standard. It is for the working manager who is past the basics and ready to turn experience and judgement into consistent, evidence-based practice.
Delivered in short modules around the working week, with real work-based tasks between sessions, it develops the six management themes in depth and lets you specialise in the areas that matter most to your role.
Foundation answers “what should I be thinking about as a manager?”. Level 3 answers “how do I manage this effectively?”. It connects established management theory to the automotive workplace, so you learn principles, apply them to real situations, and make reasoned management decisions you can stand behind.
The emphasis is on developing competent line managers who turn management knowledge into consistent practice on the floor, not on passing a test.
The programme runs as a series of modules spaced across several weeks rather than one block out of the business. Each module pairs taught content with a work-based task, so what you learn is applied in your own workplace between sessions, and that applied work builds the evidence for your accreditation. Managers develop without leaving the floor for a week at a time.
Theme 1
Leading people, setting expectations and influencing behaviour and standards with judgement.
Theme 2
Managing performance, absence, conduct and development fairly, consistently and within the law.
Theme 3
Controlling risk through competence, supervision, work allocation and everyday management.
Theme 4
Using management-system information to control processes and drive continual improvement.
Theme 5
Using operational evidence and trends to measure outcomes and make better decisions.
Theme 6
Planning people, competence, time and resources against demand and performance.
Beyond the core, Level 3 lets each learner go deeper in the areas that fit their role and their Foundation development profile. You choose from three:
For managers who own process control, standards and improvement.
For managers accountable for productivity, performance and customer outcomes.
For managers planning people, skills and resources against demand.

Most learners arrive via the 2-day Foundation course, which introduces all six themes and the OpesQ case-based approach before Level 3 develops them in depth. Levels 5 and 7 extend the pathway further.
